King Cake- #TheCakeSliceBakers

The Cake Slice Bakers have a new book for 2018!

King Cake1

I’m very excited that we will be baking through The Perfect Cake from America’s Test Kitchen! The book will be released on March 27, 2018, but we were very lucky to have the opportunity to bake from this book prior to release. Thank you America’s Test Kitchen! #atkcake

King Cake3

My choice for this month was King Cake, in honor of Mardi Gras. I can’t really resist a cake that is yeast risen and will double as breakfast this week for us! Light fluffy yeast dough layered with cinnamon, brown sugar and pecans. It’s spectacular.  And… ahem… my apologies for the piece missing in the first photo. Someone in my household didn’t get the message that it was still warm and I hadn’t taken photos!

The Cake Slice Bakers are baking from a new book “The Perfect Cake” from America’s Test Kitchen.

Our choices this month are…

  1. Fallen Chocolate Cakes p.96
  2. King Cake p.280
  3. Peanut Butter Pretzel Cake p.166
  4. Saffron-Orange Bundt Cake p.342

Omg! Lol! This is a sign that this book will be great! This is the second post with pieces missing before pictures are taken!
I bet they won’t be doing that again!

Looks great. I had to laugh at the missing piece – my husband won’t touch anything I cook until he’s heard from me that photos have been taken!

He didn’t realize it still needed icing! So he assumed I had taken photos.

You have the most perfect crumb and lovely spiral. What a beautiful cake!

I live in constant fear the someone will take a sample before taking the pictures! My youngest swiped a finger through the icing this time but that was easy to hide. Your cake looks delicious!

I have to get over my yeast phobia so that I can make this cake, it looks good.
