Tuesdays with Dorie: Devils Food Wafflets with Chocolate Sauce

I’ve been neglecting my blog and Tuesdays with Dorie in recent months. We got married in April, have had a busy summer, and now we’re both back in school (plus us both working full time). It’s busy. But my husband’s company has been complaining about the lack of cookies and Tuesdays with Dorie is my first love, so I’m back and my baking priority as we head into the colder months of the year!

I was totally prepared to make these Wafflets in my waffle iron. Until Dorie mentioned pizzelle irons. Twice. Hmmm… I happen to own one of those. Actually, most of my family owns one, and when I got my own kitchen (aka we moved into our first house last year and we’re Italian), I HAD to have one. My mother was thrilled- she doesn’t have to make my great grandmother’s pizzelles at Christmas anymore- I can make them.

So naturally, I made Wafflets into pizzelles. They were yummy! And officially added to the list of Christmas cookies to go with the vanilla ones from my nanee.
