Tuesdays with Dorie: Greek Honey Dainties

I made the Greek Honey Dainties from page 277 of Dorie’s Cookies for this week’s Tuesdays with Dorie. I come from a family that is heavily Italian- my mother is 100% Sicilian, and I’m 50%. I have first cousins who are 50% Greek, but their mother is my aunt- so also Italian, and my aunt does most of the cooking in that house… so let’s just say, my exposure to Greek sweets and food is very minimal.

These were a fun venture outside the norm of cooking and baking for my family! And so delicious! We really enjoyed these a lot. I used local honey, and orange zest in place of the orange extract.  And I opted to not make the Christmas Spice version- honey, orange and walnut sounded like a superb combination, so I stuck with it.

Glad you liked them and I look forward to making them.

  5. Yours look great. Mine are just out of the oven and not only did they not keep their shape but 1/2 the recipe made 18 cookies so clearly I have done something wrong. I also think they won’t stay together 😦 So soft!
